Winn the Fight was founded by the family of Karl Winn, who lost a courageous battle with cancer in September of 2007. Karl was a Clemson graduate, electrical engineer with AMEC and active member of Advent United Methodist Church. The Winn the Fight team is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research to improve treatment and care for those currently suffering and for the future. Through a partnership with Greenville Hospital System the first goal is to fund a tissue bank in Greenville at the Clinical Research Unit. The tissue bank would allow doctors to study the effects of various drugs and treatments on different types of cancerous tumors. The Greenville tissue bank would be the only one of its kind in South Carolina and potential benefits would be endless.
